Non-parametric Tests

Non-parametric tests are significance tests that do not have any assumptions on the distribution of the underlying population. Therefore, this class of significance tests is also known as distribution-free tests.

Example 1

Chi-square test is a non-parametric test. It makes no distributional assumptions on the underlying population.
